TrinFest: A Day of Service
Sunday, September 10, 2017
Join us Sunday morning, September 10, for "Trinfest: A Day of Service" as we Celebrate, Serve, and Shine with the light of God! Once again, it is time to kick-off our annual program year. In addition to gearing up for Sunday School, Confirmation, Choirs, and Bible Studies, we want to make an extra effort to reach out into the community beyond our church walls.
During our Fellowship Hour at 9:30 am, we will have a variety of service project opportunities for people of all ages, including:
THE SANDWICH PROJECT
All ages are welcome to make sandwiches for an organization called "The Sandwich Project". Our goal is to make 500 sandwiches that will feed homeless people in the Minneapolis area. Help us to make it happen!
PROJECT LINUS
You are invited to help make a beautiful blanket for a child who is ill or traumatized. All blankets made this day will be donated to Project Linus, an organization that provides a sense of security, warmth, and comfort through the gift of handmade blankets. Join us and officially become a "Blanketeer"!
SOAP & DETERGENT PACKAGING
Help package laundry soap into smaller containers for distribution to low-income families and repackage bar soap so that its scent does not permeate other items at the food shelf. This project will benefit food shelves in the cities of Watertown and Plymouth.
CARD / LETTER WRITING
All ages are invited to share in this project! You are welcome to:
-
Write letters or cards to Trinity's homebound members
-
Send Thank You notes to Watertown Emergency Services
-
Send cards of appreciation to those serving in the military
-
Those who are too young to write are invited to draw pictures to brighten someone's day!
PARISH HEALTH COMMUNITY GARDEN
Trinity's Parish Health Team is beginning a Community Garden on our property, with the fresh produce to be shared with our local food shelf. Young people are especially encouraged to join us and plant seeds to take home as a reminder to share with their neighbors in need.
INDOOR PROJECTS AT TRINITY
We’ll have some projects to benefit Trinity, too. Do you know how to hold a paint brush or use an electric hand sander? If so, then you can help us do some painting and sanding in a couple of our Sunday School rooms. Wear old clothes!
OUTDOOR PROJECTS AT TRINITY
Bring your favorite rake, shovel, or spade and we'll put you to work on a couple of landscaping projects on the grounds around our building. Bring work gloves, too!
Take part in one TrinFest service project that day or try them all! We'll see you at TrinFest on September 10!
